Service Project: Fiesta sa Mrs. Philippines Homes, Hatid saya sa ating mga Ina:

On the 2nd of May, 2009, Triskelions of Mid-Atlantic offered a momentous Mothers’ Day Celebration in Mrs. Philippines Homes. Fort Washington, Maryland. Over 55 guests came over to witness the event. As a tribute to all the mothers present during the occasion, the service project dedicated to the community was entitled “Fiesta sa Mrs. Philippines Homes: Hatid Saya sa Ating Mga Ina”.

The program started with a prayer. Lead by the worthy hosts Bro Jhun Cajayon (RTU ‘85) and Sis Tess Santiago (CLSU ‘92). The program was participative and lively as the emcees captivated the residents’ attention through their irrevocable charms. The distinctive atmosphere of the venue even lightened up and contributed to a more productive and worth remembering occasion for everyone. Lastly, the best of the DJ’s music set the mood for the attendees of all parties – the organizers, residents and guests. Through the eminence of Bro Eric Talavera (FEU ‘78)as the master DJ of the night, everyone’s interest and the environment were equally stimulated.

Some commendable guests were also present during the service project in Mrs. Philippines Homes. The outgoing Consul and 1st Secretary, Rico Fos, served as one of the event’s guest speakers. Mr. Dino Tiongco, on behalf of Pinoy Herald, as well left an inspirational message as another guest speaker of the night. And not to fail to mention Mrs. Digna Amon, a representative and president of the Zambalenos, USA, was also present during the event.

The Triskelions of Mid-Atlantic Region (TMAR) as well took the opportunity to offer tokens of gratitude to two of their honorable guests that night. Both were awarded and presented a Certificate of Appreciation – For Rico Fos on his tour as the Philippine Embassy Consul and 1st Secretary and to Pinoy Herald, through the representation of Mr. Dino Tiongco, for its active participation for the service project offered to residents of Mrs. Philippines Homes.

Some karaoke singing and ballroom dancing wrapped up the event. Both parties bid their goodbyes with a wishful thinking of meeting again some other time. With the success of the service project as it touched the hearts of everyone present during the event, a promise to conduct its part 2 and even make it an annual event is a must-have everyone could long to witness once again. So from this year forward, it is probable for the TMAR to make such kind of project on the roll. A job well done again in serving the community through the able leadership of our Secretary General, Bro Dale Aguirre.
